Adelson Galleries Winter Show 2014 Ad

Design of a single-page advertisement for Adelson Galleries' participation in The Winter Antiques Show 2014, held at Park Avenue Armory, New York. The fair has since been rebranded as The Winter Show. This was the fair's 65th edition. The advertisement featured John Singer Sargent's Madame Errazuriz (The Lady in Black), 1882–83.

Scope of Work

  • Design of advertisement for placement in the fair's official catalogue
  • Coordination with the publisher on placement and production quality
  • Image preparation for print use

Advertisement Deliverables

A full-page advertisement was designed for placement in the fair's official catalogue, distributed to attendees across the run of the show. Left and right page variants were submitted alongside a secondary back cover spread option. I coordinated with the publisher on placement and production quality.

The layout is set on white, with the artist's name in a large display serif across the top, life dates in a lighter weight beneath, and the painting centered with gallery contact information carried in small type at the foot of the page. The design gives the work room without competing with it, an approach suited to fine art of this period and caliber.

Technical

I was responsible for image preparation, including color balance, cropping, isolation of artwork from backgrounds, and preparing files for print use.
