I designed the exhibition catalogue for Art in Nature: Legacy of the Land, presented by the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, as part of the Art in Nature Alliance, in conjunction with the exhibition on view March 22 through May 3, 2015. The catalogue runs 104 pages and opens with a preface, introduction, and a series of essays presented as integrated text and image layouts, organized into a historic section featuring pre–World War II plein-air works and a contemporary section presenting works by living painters in the same format. I coordinated with Robert W. Dudley, Board Member and Executive Editor of the publication, who served as my primary contact throughout the project.
Scope of Work
- Visual identity development for the publication.
- Concept development and design direction.
- Layout design and typography across 104 pages.
- Image preparation for print and digital use.
- Digital edition adaptation for online display and distribution.
- Research and sourcing of a local printer to meet project timeline requirements.
- Coordination with the printer through production.
Visual Identity
The visual identity for this catalogue was developed as part of the larger exhibition project. I was responsible for the complete design language of the exhibition — typographic system, color, graphic approach — and this extended fully into the catalogue, creating continuity across all materials produced for Art in Nature: Legacy of the Land.

The catalogue was designed to reflect both the historical and contemporary dimensions of the exhibition, with a typographic and layout language capable of presenting plein-air works and living painters' work in a unified format across 104 pages.

Technical
I was responsible for image preparation throughout, including color balance, cropping, isolation of artwork from backgrounds, and preparing files for both print and digital use.
Production Coordination
I researched and sourced a capable local printer to meet the tight timeline constraints of the project, coordinating through samples and quality review. I worked with Lois Jones at Minuteman Press, whose production work met the quality and timeline requirements of the project.
