I designed a large-format exhibition poster, produced for Castles in the Sky: Fantasy Architecture in Contemporary Art, a group exhibition at Lehman College Art Gallery, October 13, 2018 through January 26, 2019. The exhibition featured works by over 30 artists and was curated by Bartholomew F. Bland, Executive Director of Lehman College Art Gallery.

Scope of Work

  • Design of a large-format exhibition poster for display across multiple locations.
  • Development of original graphics and vector artwork for use in the poster design.
  • Image preparation for print use.

Advertisement Deliverables

A large-format poster was designed for display across multiple locations to promote the exhibition. The design featured a detail of Jonathan Monaghan's Disco Beast, 2016, an ornate architectural facade reflected and inverted upon itself, introducing the show's central theme of fantastical, unbuildable architecture directly through the imagery.

The layout runs the image full-bleed across most of the page, with the exhibition title and subtitle set in white and light blue type positioned low against the composition, taking advantage of the open sky in the artwork's inverted structure. Supporting details, including dates, hours, reception information, and supporter credits, are set in small type toward the foot of the poster, keeping the visual impact of the image as the primary focus.

Technical

I was responsible for image preparation, including color balance, cropping, isolation of artwork from backgrounds, and preparing files for print use.
