I designed the exhibition catalogue for Watch the Parade, a comprehensive survey of Federico Uribe’s work published by Skira in partnership with Adelson Galleries. Spanning nearly thirty years, the book traces Uribe’s artistic evolution from early oil paintings to inventive assemblages constructed from everyday materials.

The catalogue was structured to alternate between essay sections and portfolio-style plate groupings. For the essays, I developed a color-themed system for each chapter, opening with a large drop-cap introduction paired with a prominent artwork to establish tone and pacing. This approach helped differentiate sections while maintaining continuity across the publication.

The plate sections shifted into a calmer, more spacious layout, allowing Uribe’s intricate objects—formed from materials such as pencils, shoes, and hardware—to be presented with clarity and impact. The contrast between the expressive essay sections and the restrained plate layouts created a balanced visual rhythm throughout the book.

The resulting catalogue forms a cohesive visual narrative that supports both the whimsy and craftsmanship central to Uribe’s work. Publication Director Linda Locke was closely involved during the design phase, offering insights that helped refine and elevate the final publication.
