I developed visual identity and associated design materials for Frohawk Two Feathers: Kill Your Best Ideas, an exhibition at Hudson River Museum, on view February 7 through May 17, 2015. The exhibition presented new paintings by Frohawk Two Feathers from his series on Colonial America, set in his imaginary Republic of Frengland, alongside Hudson River School paintings from the museum's collection connecting to the landscapes of the story. It was curated by Bartholomew F. Bland, Director of Curatorial Affairs, under the direction of Michael Botwinick, Director of Hudson River Museum. I coordinated with Linda Locke, Publication Director, throughout the project.

Scope of Work

  • Development of the exhibition's visual identity.
  • Design of exhibition catalogue (print and digital).
  • Design of exhibition invitation.
  • Design of exhibition takeaway card.
  • Design of visual email campaign.
  • Design of weekly newspaper advertisements.
  • Image preparation for print and digital use.

Visual Identity

A visual identity was developed for the exhibition and applied consistently across all associated materials. This established the typographic language, layout structure, and graphic approach used throughout the deliverables produced.

Print

Invitation

A folded invitation was designed in postcard format, sealed for mailing and opened upon removal of the seal to reveal the invitation and exhibition details inside. I ensured compliance with mailing standards and coordinated with the printer to maintain production quality.

Newspaper Advertisements

Weekly advertisement placements were designed for Hudson River Museum exhibition programming, appearing consistently in print to maintain ongoing public visibility for the museum's exhibitions.

Catalogue

A full exhibition catalogue was designed, running 80 pages exclusive of cover. The catalogue blends Frohawk Two Feathers' fictional narrative with scholarly writing, and includes a section connecting the exhibition to the Hudson River Museum's collection of Hudson River School paintings, tying the landscapes of the story to the museum's holdings. The catalogue concludes with a plate section of works in the exhibition. I coordinated with the publisher to ensure production quality and accurate color. The catalogue was also adapted to a digital format for online display and distribution.
