I developed visual identity and associated design materials for *Jimmy Kuehnle: Tongue in Cheek*, an exhibition at Hudson River Museum, on view June 4 through September 18, 2016. The exhibition was Jimmy Kuehnle's first large-scale solo installation in New York, presenting five inflatable sculptures throughout the museum's historic Glenview Mansion and modern wing. It was curated by Bartholomew F. Bland, Deputy Director, under the direction of Michael Botwinick, Director of Hudson River Museum. I coordinated with Linda Locke, Publication Director, throughout the project.

Scope of Work

  • Development of the exhibition's visual identity.
  • Design of exhibition signage and wayfinding system.
  • Supporting design work throughout the exhibition.
  • Design of weekly newspaper advertisements.

Visual Identity

A visual identity was developed for the exhibition and applied consistently across all associated materials. This established the typographic language, layout structure, and graphic approach used throughout the deliverables produced.

Environment

These materials were designed for installation in and around the physical space of the exhibition. In all cases I coordinated with the producer to ensure quality and accuracy.

Introductory Panel

A large introductory panel presenting contextual information on Jimmy Kuehnle and the exhibition was designed to be mounted at the entrance of the exhibition.

Wayfinder Panels

A series of wayfinding panels was designed for installation throughout the museum, providing directional guidance and contextual information for each of the five inflatable sculptures. The panels situated visitors within the exhibition across the museum's historic Glenview Mansion and modern wing, functioning as both artwork labels and navigational markers within the space.
