I developed the brand identity for Mech Kinematics, a research and development initiative into control rigging, procedural animation, and the underlying mathematics of animation systems across multiple DCCs. The brand serves as a unified identity for internal research and a mark of quality for released products and consulting work.
Scope of Work
- Development of visual identity and concept.
- Design and illustration of logo mark.
- Design of wordmark.
- Development of variants.
- Production of vector artwork for final outputs.
Identity
The mark is a personal one — a legacy symbol rooted in the brain-warring complexity of solving quadruped leg rigs across DCC constraints, a notoriously time-consuming problem that sits at the heart of the project's origins. The design draws direct inspiration from Leonardo da Vinci's Vitruvian Man, reinterpreting its framework of spherical geometry and anatomical study through the lens of control rigging: a galloping horse rendered in fine sketched line work, overlaid with the circular and axial construction lines of the Vitruvian composition, with subtle nodes distributed across the body representing individual control points rather than human proportion.
The result is a mark that reads as both technical diagram and illustration — precise and expressive in equal measure.
The wordmark is set in spaced uppercase lettering, minimal and elegant, chosen to complement the delicacy of the illustration rather than compete with it.
Deliverables
A set of graphics were developed as an initial package of branding assets. All final artwork was produced as digital vector illustrations.

Development
Da Vinci's drawings in particular Vitruvian Man were a major reference during the development of the illustrated drawing.
