I developed the brand identity for Midnight Citylights, a software development studio. The identity was designed to establish a distinct visual mythology for the studio, differentiating it from contemporary tech branding conventions through a near future aesthetic that draws on the visual language of densely lit urban environments and speculative corporate worlds.

Identity
The goal was a brand that felt inhabited rather than generic,— something that could belong to a studio operating at the intersection of technology and visual culture, with a sense of place and atmosphere behind it. The aesthetic draws on near future urban imagery without committing to any specific fictional reference, sitting in a register that is cinematic and architectural rather than purely digital.
Deliverables
A set of graphics were developed as an initial package of branding assets. All final artwork was produced as digital vector illustrations.

The logo renders Midnight Citylights in custom letterforms built from bold angular strokes and geometric cuts, evoking the abstracted shapes of city streets, skyscrapers, and neon signage seen from above or at speed. The letterforms sit in a space between Latin type construction and the angular rhythm of East Asian script forms, giving the mark an invented quality — familiar enough to read fluently but foreign enough to feel like it belongs to its own world. Red accent elements within selected letterforms provide the only color, cutting through the dark palette like a lit window or a signal light.

A light and dark variant were developed, the dark version placing the white and red mark against deep black for maximum impact.
