I designed the exhibition catalogue and environmental graphics for Staten Island SEEN, a permanent exhibition at the Staten Island Museum at Snug Harbor Cultural Center, opening September 17, 2015. The exhibition traces the borough's history and landscape from the 17th century to the present, featuring commissioned works by contemporary artists alongside Hudson River School landscape paintings from the museum's collection. I coordinated with Linda Locke, Publication Director, throughout the project.

Scope of Work

  • Development of the exhibition's visual identity.
  • Design of exhibition catalogue (print and digital).
  • Design of environmental column panel graphics.
  • Image preparation for print and digital use.

Visual Identity

A visual identity was developed for the exhibition and applied consistently across all associated materials. This established the typographic language, layout structure, and graphic approach used throughout the deliverables produced.

Environment

These materials were designed for installation in the physical space of the exhibition. In all cases I coordinated with the producer to ensure quality and accuracy.

Column Panels

Four sets of four-panel column wraps were designed for installation on the interior columns of the exhibition space. Each set encircles a single column with four full-graphic panels featuring duotone reproductions of works from the exhibition integrated with exhibition branding and text.

Catalogue

A full exhibition catalogue was designed, running 126 pages exclusive of cover. The catalogue opens with a series of hero layouts, followed by three long-form essays presented as complex integrated text and image layouts. The catalogue concludes with a plate section presenting works featured in the exhibition. I coordinated with the publisher to ensure production quality and accurate color. The catalogue was also adapted to a digital format for online display and distribution.
