Transomnebulism Web Development

Transomnebulism was my original design studio website, under which I offered graphic design and web development services for much of my professional career. The platform functioned as both a client-facing service site and an evolving portfolio of completed work.

The site was structured as a simple, browsable archive. Portfolio entries were presented in a blog-like format, allowing projects to be added, shared, and navigated easily.

The Transomnebulism brand has since been retired, and its portfolio and service offerings were consolidated into my current Alex Stevovich platform. However, the site represents a significant phase of my independent practice and the foundation of my long-term portfolio development.

Scope of Work

  • Website architecture and system design.
  • Development of custom typographic elements.

Design Approach

The site adopted a dark theme with subtle art deco gold detailing. A custom drop cap type treatment was developed for the platform, creating a distinctive and iconic typographic motif that reinforced an art-book-like layout sensibility.

Responsive

A fully responsive layout was implemented to ensure consistent presentation across screen sizes.

Data Structure

Portfolio entries were presented in a blog-style listing, allowing projects to be browsed sequentially and shared individually.

A data-driven structure supported the efficient addition of new work over time. Projects could also be grouped by domain, allowing the portfolio to be viewed through different lenses of practice while maintaining a unified archive.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

Structured metadata, including Schema.org markup, was implemented across relevant page types. Semantic HTML, descriptive metadata, and logical pagination were used to support search indexing and discoverability. The site architecture supported both human navigation and search engine crawlability.

Accessibility

The site was developed with attention to accessibility standards. Clear semantic structure, descriptive image metadata, and consistent navigation patterns were prioritized to ensure ease of use across devices and assistive technologies.

Technical Approach

The site was built using standard HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with PHP supporting its data-driven content structure. It was deployed within a PHP-enabled hosting environment.
