Willard Traub Web

I maintain an independent tribute website to my late friend, fine art photographer Willard Traub. I served as Willard’s web developer during his lifetime, working with him to organize and present a highly curated selection of his photography across distinct series. Today I continue to maintain the site according to the organization and presentation he established. The project is independently maintained and is not affiliated with his estate.

The original structure and intent of the website are preserved while its underlying implementation is maintained and improved for modern web expectations. The site remains deliberately minimal and archival, allowing Willard’s photography to take precedence over the interface. Development emphasizes image quality, thoughtful presentation, straightforward navigation, performance, and discoverability without unnecessarily changing the experience he approved.

Because the site now serves as both a public presentation of Willard’s photography and a lasting record of his work, preservation has become an increasingly important part of the project. Images, content, organization, and technical infrastructure are maintained with the expectation that the site should remain viable over a very long period rather than depend on a particular generation of web technology.

I am also developing approaches for the site’s eventual long-term preservation beyond my own stewardship. The goal is for Willard’s selected body of work, its organization into series, and the presentation he established during his lifetime to remain accessible well into the future.
