Service Overview
I approach character asset optimization as a deliberate production discipline — shaping assets to meet performance goals without undermining their visual identity, deformation quality, or expressive intent.
What Character Asset Optimization Is
Character asset optimization is the process of adapting a character to specific technical constraints: platform limits, real-time budgets, engine requirements, or scalability targets.
This work goes far beyond polygon reduction. It involves coordinated decisions across geometry, topology, rigs, materials, shaders, textures, and animation data.
Optimization at Any Production Stage
I optimize characters at any point in the pipeline — from early prototypes to fully realized hero assets.
This may involve preparing a character for real-time use, adapting an asset for multiple platforms, creating efficient LOD chains, or restructuring data to meet strict performance budgets while preserving silhouette, motion, and personality.
Areas of Optimization
Optimization work may include:
• Geometry and topology refinement • LOD planning and generation • Rig simplification and evaluation • Skinning and deformation efficiency • Shader and material cost reduction • Texture resolution and memory planning • Data structure cleanup and consolidation
Performance Goals & Constraints
Every optimization pass is guided by a clearly defined goal: target hardware, engine limits, frame budget, or scalability tier.
Rather than applying generic reductions, I tailor optimization strategies to the specific needs of the project — ensuring assets remain stable, predictable, and visually coherent under real production conditions.
Strategic Integration
Because optimization touches every system, it benefits from a holistic view of production. My background in topology research, rigging, shaders, and production systems allows me to optimize characters in ways that align with long-term pipeline efficiency — not just immediate performance gains.
The result is characters that scale gracefully across platforms, scenes, and production phases without repeated rework.
