Motion illustration introduces depth, atmosphere, and presence by animating existing artwork rather than replacing it with full animation. The focus is on enhancing the original image — preserving its composition and intent while adding subtle movement that gives it energy and dimensionality.
Animating Still Artwork
Motion is applied selectively and with purpose. I work with techniques such as gentle parallax, drifting elements, environmental motion, and light-based accents to create scenes that feel alive without becoming distracting.
The goal is not spectacle, but presence — motion that supports mood, atmosphere, and visual interest while respecting the original illustration.
Depth and Atmosphere
Motion illustration is especially effective for creating a sense of depth. Foreground, midground, and background layers can move independently, producing spatial richness and subtle perspective shifts.
Additional techniques such as soft lighting changes, particle accents, and controlled deformation add atmosphere and emotional weight without overwhelming the image.
